BARN RUNNER QTE 1
The QTE Affair Quick Time Events. We all love them. They've infested so many types of games. They're practically background noise at this point, like turret sections or crafting items (and whatever happened to colored keycards?). And this micro-game is nothing but a single QTE with a tiny scrap of story stapled to it (a newly-elected political rival plans to launch a Quorum on Transgressions and Excesses against the lovably corrupt Mayor DuChamp). This game was originally made for the February 2017 "24 Hours of AGS" contest based on the theme "Hide!" Like so many AGS contest games I've made, I did not finish it in time for the deadline, so it got stuffed onto a hard drive along with all my other unfinished MAGS projects. But in December of 2025, the MAGS theme was "finish your MAGS," so I picked this game out of of the big pile of unfinished projects and finally completed it (even though it was technically not made for a MAGS contest). Like many of my MAGS/OROW/ETC games, this one was built around a mini-game mechanic I wanted to explore -- in this case, I wanted to see if I could build a QTE mini-game that would be easy to implement in a future Barn Runner game. Due to sitting in the pile of unfinished games for 8 years, the demo code I wrote for this game saw the light of day years before this game did. In the time since this game was first abandoned, I've included the QTE code in both Pucker Factor and The Forever Friday chapter 5. But if you just love QTEs and/or The Chief, this game is for you!
