Easter Egg Listing (most of them, anyway) for Barn Runner Xmas 0: Christmas Soup (C) Tacky World Interactive Games, 2009 by Scott LeGere _________________ ================= EASTER EGGS & TRIVIA ================= * Unwrap your package --------------- There is a small icon of a gift on your control bar at the top of the screen. Eleven months out of the year, you can unwrap it to find a fruitcake (because those thinks will stay fresh until Christmas). But during the month of December you will get a different present when you click it. * Doggy! --------------- The stuffed toys that Noriko collects (seen beneath the Christmas stockings) are actually Sam Starfall (in the blue spacesuit) and Florence Ambrose (in the yellow jumpsuit) from Mark Stanley's long-running web comic "Freefall." * Secret Ingredients --------------- The "Fungus Urungus" brand condensed soup is a nod to Oderous Urungus, lead singer of the band Gwar. * Thank the Maker! --------------- C-3PO makes his required cameo by appearing on top of the TV next to the kitchen door. Although it isn't made clear in the game, this is actually the head of the robot that is destroyed in part one of The Armageddon Eclair. For some reason, The Chief kept it as a momento. * Secret Identity --------------- This marks the first time that Chief of Police Wood has been called by her first name: Holly. * Little Lost Light --------------- If you search the couch while decorating the tree, you can find a spare light bulb that has been lost among the cushions. The light serves no purpose in the game, but I put it there anyway because every other year I find one of those little bulbs somewhere in my living room months after Christmas is over. * Christmas Spirit --------------- The song Noriko sings in the opening scene is a popular French Christmas carol. It is sung to the tune of "Jingle Bells" and translates as follows: Vive le vent, vive le vent, (Live the wind, live the wind,) Vive le vent d'hiver, (Live the winter wind) Qui s'en va sifflant, soufflant (Which goes whistling, blowing) Dans les grands sapins verts. (In the big green Christmas trees.) Oh ! Vive le temps, vive le temps, (Live the weather, live the weather,) Vive le temps d'hiver, (Live the winter weather,) Boule de neige et jour de l'an (Snowball and new year's day) Et bonne année grand-mère ! (and happy new year Grandma!) * Rocky Mountain Muppets --------------- Though John Denver made several appearances with the Muppets, the dialog from the closing scene isn't from a real Christmas special. I made it up. * Just wait till next year --------------- This game is actually only half the size I intended. Hopefully, next year I'll be able to release some sort of expansion pack that will insert the missing cutscenes and the two puzzles that were axed in time to get the game out the door for the Christmas deadline. * New Tools --------------- This game is the first to use the new cursor icons I plan to switch to after The Forever Friday is completed. I hope you like them. * Cold Start --------------- This is alse the first game to have no menu screen or opening movie prompt. * Hot Wax Me, Baby --------------- The robot that The Chief speaks of in the opening movie is the same robot that Prick destroys in the opening movie of Barn Runner 4: The Prick Who Came In From The Cold.
