Easter Egg Listing (most of them, anyway) for Barn Runner: The Prick Who Came In From the Cold (C)Tacky World Interactive Games, 2004 by Scott LeGere _________________ The icing on the delicious cake of Adventure Gaming is the unexpected discovery. This document points out most of the hidden jokes and tidbits of gaming you might have missed if you didn't play the game with an especially curious mind. DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU ARE THE SORT WHO ENJOYS SURPRISES! _________________ ================= EASTER EGGS ================= * SECRET RECIPE --------------- LOOK at the stew pot in the fireplace several times to learn more about what passes for cooking in the BGCZ. * STAND-UP ROUTINE ------------------ TALK to the robot lying in the dump. After several attempts, Prick will start telling jokes. BONUS: After he's run out of jokes, go and TALK to the old man. Prick will have one more joke to tell. * TIS THE SEASON FOR GIVING --------------------------- USE the long pole (with or without sap) on the Santa Hat in the dump. GIVE the Santa Hat to the old man. You'll get a special present. USE the Multi Tool to open the package if you're the sort that can't wait until Christmas. BONUS: You can also give him the Broken DataLink if you feel like it. * HISTORY LESSON ---------------- To learn more about the world: LOOK at both pictures above the fireplace, and also the Gun Towers and one of the Fence Posts near the Birds Nest. Prick will tell you all he knows about them. BONUS: Once you've looked at these things, go TALK to the old man. He can tell you even more about them. * ANTIQUE PISTOL ---------------- TOUCH the rifle above the fireplace. The old man will threaten to shoot you. Keep trying to TOUCH the rifle until he finally relents. He'll give you an antique pistol to pacify you. ================= TRIVIA ================= * Once I decided to pull the "Field Guide" from the website, I needed a way to make the player familiar with the backstory. As a result, this is the first game in the series with multiple responses when you LOOK at certain items. (In case you were wondering, the Field Guide was pulled because it was too filled with spoilers. I'd rather the player learn about the world in smaller doses, over a longer period of time). * If you look at C-3PO in the scrapheap, Prick will mention the perils of Bore Mites and Ohmu. The Ohmu is a reference to Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. * This game was continued in Cyclone Alley, a game that was made available for a limited time during Christmas 2004. Most reviewers (and players) missed the window to download that game, and as a result, most of the reviews of this game noted the rather abrupt ending. Three years later, Cyclone Alley was made available again, so download it if you haven't already! * The comic book style cutscenes of this game proved to be very popular with players and I've been looking for an opportunity to do them in that manner again (look for the next one in this style to appear in The Cop Who Copped A Feel).
